2018 Ford Explorer vs The Competition

Comparing the Ford Explorer to the 2018 GMC Terrain

Information is the single most important thing that you could need when you are deciding on which vehicle would be right for your needs. At Patriot Ford, we will make sure that all of the information is easy to find, and that you will always be able to see the differences between your options. We want to take a look at two of the most popular SUV models to show you which might have the features and capabilities to meet the needs of your life. Choosing between the 2018 Ford Explorer and the 2018 GMC Terrain might seem difficult, but our team will make it easy.

For starters, the Explorer can hold up to seven passengers with three rows of seating while the GMC Terrain can only hold up to five passengers. Being able to hold more people means that you will be able to bring your kids and their gear to wherever it is needed, even bringing along some of their friends for the best experience possible.

Having more seats might make you think that it has less room for everything else, but it also offers more cargo space than the Terrain can. You can fold down all of the rows of seats in both models, opening up a massive 81.7 cubic feet in the Explorer, but only 63.3 cubic feet in the Terrain. If you are keeping two rows of seating up, the Explorer has up to 43.9 cubic feet, but the Terrain only has 29.6 cubic feet. If you are planning to use all three-rows of the Explorer, you are still getting 21 cubic feet of cargo space.

Interior space is important, but so is power. The Explorer provides a lot more power than the Terrain does, which not only help give you a more fun driving experience, but also makes sure you don't experience any sluggish performance when you are packing a lot.

The Explorer offers three engines, a 3.5-Liter V6, a 2.3-Liter EcoBoost, and a 3.5-Liter EcoBoost V6 that make 290, 280, and 365 horsepower respectively. The Terrain also offers three engines, a 1.5-Liter Turbo, a 2-Liter Turbo, and a 1.6-Liter diesel that make 203, 260, and 240 horsepower respectively. When the numbers so clearly speak for themselves, your choice is clear.

Our team will make sure you get scheduled for a test drive at the most convenient time for you. We can answer all of your questions so that you can be confident choosing the 2018 Ford Explorer. You are encouraged to visit our dealership soon to start moving towards the model that will meet all of the needs of your life!
